ITV Ventures (continued)
ITV Legal Department At Work
As mentioned in the previous issue, ITV Ventures has it's own staffed legal department, with individuals that are tasked to ensure compliance with their published Policies and Procedures.
If you recall, I had been contacted by ITV Ventures' legal department concerning one of the items contained in a viral marketing system I had personally created called the ITV Dominator. The legal department had pointed out that in order to enter into compliance with their recently released policies and procedures, I was to remove any mention of one of the components I had originally included in the website, and I was asked to complete and submit a Marketing Request Form, which I did.
Since that time, ITV has requested further modifications to the ITV Dominator. Modifications that, in all honesty, I did not agree with. In fact, after voicing my opinion (in a professional manner), they agreed to reverse the decision of one of their "rulings" ... which I give them credit for. That being said, they were still standing firm on two of their other "rulings" that will require even further modifications of the ITV Dominator.
Now that I've had a few weeks to analyze the situation, I've come to the following conclusion:
ITV Direct (the original, multi-million dollar company) has MUCH to lose should it's spin-off sister company, ITV Ventures, fall under any kind of litigious scrutiny. This MLM venture is so unique, especially in the fact that it is a company that, by mere association to ITV Direct, could severely damage the reputation, integrity, and perhaps even the fate of it's "parent" corporation, which could literally result (in a worst-case scenario) the eventual demise of both companies. (Special Note: The above paragraph originated completely of my own opinion. None of the statements made in the preceding paragraph are based on hard facts, and were not expressed either directly or indirectly via ITV Ventures or any of its representatives).
Another important note: Several other website owners have also been subject to very similar rulings from the ITV legal deparment, resulting in mandatory modifications.
The bottom line ... the fact that I disagree with their ruling concerning a website that I created still pales in comparison to the bigger picture ... a picture that is represented by such comprehensive diligence on the part of the ITV Ventures' corporate and legal teams. After putting things into their proper perspective, I am still a very big proponent of ITV Ventures and the opportunity it presents to us all.
