TrafficPaks
To quickly recap, a TrafficPak is something offered by PAS whereby you, the PAS member, pay $190 for one TrafficPak. When you purchase a TrafficPak, you are purchasing the inclusion of your PAS website into a traffic generating "rotator" system. In other words, PAS places advertisements in various forms of media (both online and offline). When someone sees the ad and responds by visiting the advertised website, this website then automatically executes some code that looks up the next PAS member in the rotation (typically controlled via a database ... but I won't go "techie" on you here).
When you purchase a TrafficPak, you are purchasing a "placement" within the rotation with all of the other PAS members whom have also purchased 1 or more TrafficPaks. Buy more TrafficPaks, get more "placements" (or rotations, as PAS has termed it), thereby getting your website placed in the rotator more often.
A short while ago, PAS Corporate had realized that the TrafficPaks were not performing at the level they were hoping for, so they announced that they would begin "comp'ing" members TrafficPaks until they made a sale. I must say that I give them a lot of credit for doing this. As it turns out, I am one of those recipients.
I personally had originally purchased only 1 TrafficPack (= 1 rotation) for the first month (January, '06). I recently (due to new backoffice reporting tools) realized that they have since increased my number of rotations to 4 per month, still at no charge. The folks at PAS are really trying, this I don't doubt for a minute.
